Your Insurance Pre-Assessment Call

As part of your insurance application process, you will have a confidential conversation with our Registered Nurse.

This process allows us to collect your medical history upfront, along with details about your occupation, pastimes, social activities, and previous claim and insurance history, and send them to insurance providers for a pre-assessment.

By doing this, we can identify the most suitable insurance provider for you before a formal application is submitted, helping to reduce delays and minimise unexpected outcomes.

This guide outlines what to expect during the appointment and how to prepare.

Why Full Disclosure is Vital & Why Does This Matter?

Providing accurate and complete information during the pre-assessment stage is critical to ensuring a smooth insurance application process.

1) Ensures We Match You with the Right Insurer

Every insurance provider has different underwriting guidelines.

Some insurers may be more favourable for specific medical conditions, occupations, or lifestyle factors. If the information we submit is incorrect or incomplete, you may be matched with an insurer that isn’t the best fit, leading to:

  • Higher premiums

  • Unexpected exclusions

  • Additional medical requirements

  • Delays or even a declined application

2) Prevents Delays and Unexpected Terms

If key details are missing, insurers may request additional information during the formal application stage, delaying approval and potentially resulting in terms that were not anticipated.

For example, if a health condition, past claim, or high-risk activity was underreported during pre-assessment but later appears in records, the insurer may revise their terms or increase premiums unexpectedly.

3) Avoids Issues at Claim Time

If a claim is made in the future and the insurer discovers undisclosed information—whether medical, occupational, lifestyle, or past claims history—they may:

  • Deny the claim, leaving you and your family without financial protection.

  • Cancel the policy, citing non-disclosure.

Being fully transparent from the start ensures you get the right cover and peace of mind, knowing your policy will work when you need it most.

Providing Information for the Formal Application:

Once you proceed with a formal application, you will need to disclose your medical, occupational, and lifestyle history directly to the insurer.

To assist with this, we will securely provide you with a copy of the information you have already shared with us. This makes it easier to complete the insurer’s formal disclosure requirements, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
